Every detail was carefully considered to create a restrained, sophisticated, and seductive atmosphere, in harmony with the gastronomic experiences offered in the space. Drawing from the aesthetics of the existing architecture, a historic 18th-century gem that once belonged to the family of Eça de Queirós, we sought to preserve its identity while ensuring coherence with the hotel. Noble materials such as darkened oak, marble, and natural brass were incorporated to add timelessness and character to the space.

The restaurant unfolds across three distinct areas: the entrance/bar and two dining rooms. The entrance area is an invitation to intimacy, where the counter, accompanied by four bar stools, creates a secluded and welcoming setting for guests. The dining rooms feature walls clad in textured wallpaper, enhanced by mirrored panels and light fixtures that bring luminosity and sparkle to the space. Tables alternate between Estremoz marble and wood, in square and round formats, creating engaging spatial dynamics. The Mulligan chairs by the brand Duquesa & Malvada were carefully selected and customized specifically for the space.

The color palette and textiles add an additional layer that defines the space’s identity and sets it apart from the rest of the building. Every design and decorative element, from the handcrafted ceramic cladding on the entrance counter and the decorative artistic panels to the supporting furniture, such as the bespoke shelving/wine display, contributes to a distinct atmosphere that bridges the contemporary character of fine dining with the classical essence inherent to its historical and cultural identity.

Also noteworthy is the collaboration with the talented artist and illustrator Carolina Moreno, selected to create three painted panels illustrating the imaginary world of the Aveiro lagoons. These works integrate seamlessly with the remaining elements, reflecting the artistic vision and meticulous attention to detail that run throughout the entire project.
PROJECT DETAILS

Chef Rui Paula, awarded two Michelin stars, leads the creation of a menu inspired by the richness of the Aveiro lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. The challenge was to create the ideal setting to enhance this sensory experience, where gastronomy and space complement one another in perfect harmony.

The Mulligan chairs by the brand Duquesa & Malvada were carefully selected and customized for the space, with the backrests upholstered in a textured diamond-patterned fabric and the remaining surfaces in velvet, reflecting the attention to detail and the singularity of each element.

A layered palette of greens and textures, where natural and geometric patterns intersect, elevated by marble and golden accents.
